The venerable Brother Asterios

I'm not really sure what I'm doing here, but it seems to work.

A photo of a modern Dreadnought for Warhammer 40 000. It is a robot-looking thing, boxy and brutal, mostly black, with big ole claws on its arms.

I've had this Death Company dread since the Blood Angels Death Company box came out a couple of years ago, and now it's well on its way to being finished. The main body is pretty much done, except for a red X that has to go there somewhere, I'm thinking under the skull on the left shoulder. The arms need to be finished off, as well. For once I've not gone overboard with weathering, since I was thinking he went mad just before the battle, got painted all new shiny and black, and what little action he has seen so far hasn't really done much more than chip the paint a bit.

I started out with a base of black (duh), and drybrushed that with a warm grey. The BA symbols were painted first – even though he is a Flesh Tearer, I decided to keep them so I can use him for my BA army as well without much hassle – and then he stood on my shelf for a year or two.
When the new Tone Pro paints were released, I thought I'd give Craventhrone Cloak a try. Didn't really know what to do for highlights, I've mostly done a light steel drybrush on the very edges of my previous FT dudes. This time I wanted to do the dark blue grey highlights for some pop. So Craventhrone 1 and 3 were used, I tried to keep the lighter tone really tight so it wouldn't look too blue, but/and in the end I did the light metal drybrush as well. Just have to tighten up some of the scratches, and we're good to go.

The same model, from a 3/4 angle from the back, showing the (unfinished) right arm, and some of the back.

I just realized the Mechanicus skull on the reactor housing isn't finished, oops. Might have to go and pick out some of the cabling in a contrasting color, as well. There will also be a small amount of pooled mud and rust applied to where such would pool, mostly around the feet and lower legs.

Four Dreadnoughts posing. Three are red, one is black.

Whatever happens, I'm sure he's eager to join his brothers on the battlefield. For Sanguinius and the Blood!
